a world beyond classooms

bring the world to your classroom

Global Playground offers schools a unique opportunity to explore global issues, experience new cultures, and connect with other students around the world. Through Global Playground's Virtual Playground, your students can interact and learn with the students at our projects in Uganda, Cambodia, Thailand, and Honduras without ever leaving their desks.

Virtual Playground brings together students from different parts of the world to foster a deeper understanding of diverse cultures and learn about each others' shared experiences. In today's globalized and technologically connected world, it is possible - and more important than ever - for students in New York City and rural Uganda to share stories of their lives with each other.

As participants of the Virtual Playground, your students will connect with children abroad, via technology where infrastructure allows, and verbally or nonverbally, depending on whether languages are common or different. Your students will gain insight into their own lives and the lives of children halfway around the globe. The results are life-changing.

the virtual playground online

Technology and the internet can engage students across the globe. Global Playground envisions a world where students in Honduras and Uganda can share photos, videos, and stories through a shared online platform. Global Playground has created that platform for our students in its online Virtual Playground. Here, students can cooperate in joint school projects or live chat during recess. Classrooms all over the world can become one.

connect your classroom

Partner with Global Playground to customize an ongoing cross-cultural exchange between your class and students abroad using the activities in our Teacher Toolkit (PDF). The Teacher Toolkit gives examples of how to incorporate your partnership into lesson plans, daily routines, and ongoing projects in your classroom. Global Playground is a resource and guide to connecting your classroom, but you and your students lead the way.

help build it

Your students can also help us build new schools. For a donation of $5,000, your students can sponsor one of our new schools. And for a donation of $30,000, your students can help plan and build a school at a location of their choice, anywhere in the developing world. Once the school is built, you -- the teacher - will travel to the school (costs of travel are included) to help us facilitate cross-cultural dialogue between its students and yours.
